Marvel Studios Receives Three Oscar Nominations!

Today, the Oscar nominations were announced, and while Marvel didn't receive any Best Picture or Adapted Screenplay honors like some fans had hoped for GUARDIANS, they did receive a few awards worth celebrating.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLIDER and GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY were both nominated for Best Visual Effects, while GUARDIANS scored a second nomination for Best Makeup & Hairstyling. These are not big awards, but still, it's exciting to see both GUARDIANS and CAPTAIN AMERICA make the visual effects category!

It's also worth pointing out that GUARDIANS has received a lot of praise over recent weeks. The movie recently received a Writers Guild nomination for Adapted Screenplay, which ended  up surprising everyone. The movie has also received a nomination from the Costume Designer Guild in the Excellence in Fantasy Film category.

All I know is, it's a dang good time to be a comic book fan!
